72 hours Visa-free Transit Policy

Since 1st Jun 2014, Xian airport also carried out 72 hours Visa-free Transit Policy for 51 countries. It's the eighth city that implement this policy, following Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Chengdu, Dalian, Shenyang. The traveler who have the third country visa doesn’t need to apply the transit visa in Xian Xianyang International Airport for stop over within 72 hours.

If you are the passport holder issued by the countries on the 72 hours Visa-free Transit Policy List, need to layover for transit in Xian International Airport, and stop over within 72 hours, you don’t need to apply the transit visa. You only need to apply 72 hours Visa-free transit at immigration inspection authority. 72 hours Visa-free Transit Policy only apply to the foreign traveler who flies to Xian International Airport for a stop over and then leave from Xian.

Foreign tourists who enjoy visa-free policy must meet the following conditions:

• No.1 Travelers have bought air tickets to the third country before they arrived at Xian, and from their arriving and done the 72 hours Visa-free to leaving the time must be within 72 hours.

• No.2 This policy is only limited to Xian International Airport, which means travelers by train or some other vehicles can’t exempt from the requirement of transit visa.

• No.3 This policy only apply to the foreign traveler who transiting Xian for a stop over and leave for the third country. If travelers’ destinations are the same with their national countries they can’t exempt from the requirement of transit visa. For example, the traveler from USA transiting Xian flies back to USA three days later can’t exempt from the requirement of transit visa. But if he leaves for Korea or other countries can get the exemption.

• No.4 Only the foreign traveler whose national country is on the 72 hours Visa-free Transit Policy List can exempt from the requirement of transit visa. Travelers from other countries can’t get this privilege.

America countries (6): United States, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile

Oceania countries (2): Australia, New Zealand

Asia countries (6): South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Brunei, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar
